Today´s project: Restoring an old wooden pot

After 7 days at work I was able to enjoy two free days at home :)

Yesterday was sunny and warm day  so I cleaned my home and I planted flowers in my little terrace.

Today of course is raining ( it´s always raining when I´m not at work) so I was thinking that it might be nice try to restore an old object.

Looking in my storage I found this old wooden pot that the old tenant had left here.

It was very dirty so this is the cleaned version of it :)

With a grinding machine I tried to take all the white paint off!

I choose a spray paint because it´s faster and I´ve always wanted to try it!

    In less than 15 minutes.......................TADAAAA :D

Now I wait until it´s completely dry and than I will put my orange geraniums in it :)

Ikea Hackers

Today I want to share with you some nice home decorating ideas from the Ikea Hackers blog!
My favorite at the moment is Frame your earrings by Chiara from Switzerland.

She used an Ikea Ribba picture frame and rounded iron sticks.

We need a bench for the hall and this Besta bench will be perfect!! You can also put your shoes inside!!

For our dog I find two nice ideas : Desk riser to dog dining table and Dog Diner

For Nala I don´t need big bowls like these! Smaller ones like we already have , are just fine :D

I like a lot the idea to make the perfect holes in the table for the bowls!

The first table is more my style than the Lack table so I need to find out if I can combine the first table ( or some other Ikea black table) and the second idea!

Find more ideas in the Ikea Hackers website!

Helsinki World Design Capital 2012

This years our beautiful city of Helsinki is the World Design Capital!!
Like I told you, I´m really interested in design so this summer I have a lot of things to do here! :D
I have been a couple of times in the Design Shop but now I would like to visit the Design Museum and partecipate in some of the design events! The WCD have a lots of partners. My favorite is Iittala and Iittala´s Kotikaupunki mugs designed by Mira Zukale.

This one is my favorite! The name is Meri ( The sea) and in my opinion is the one that best represents Helsinki. The sea,  the senate square,  the Orthodox Church ..... Just love it!

                                                  Keskusta ( City center)

Kortteli ( Block) . This one have nice colors =)

                                                            Puisto ( Park)

I like all these mugs but my favorites are Meri and Keskusta =)
One mug costs 19,90€ . At the moment I own just Meri but this summer I will buy the rest of them =)

Hi!

Today in my first blog post I would like to talk about my home decorating style.

I like minimalist, clear and also a little bit romantic style. I love pastel colors but in my home I prefer peaceful colors like beige, white, grey with just some touch of pastels like yellow, orange and pink!

We live in a 90m2 student house in Espoo. The house is big and very nice but is still a student house with boring white walls and horrible ( believe me) old plastic floor.
I tried to do my best with some nice forniture and other decorating objects to make it look better.

Our student budjet is very low so almost all the forniture are from Ikea. Fortunately my boyfriend parents give us some  Artek pieces designed by the finnish designer Alvar Aalto that make the difference in our poor student home =D

Here some photos!

Our kitchen with Aalvar Aalto 611 chairs and table 83!

Textiles are from Jotex.fi and lamp from Ikea!

These candle lanterns are from Kodin Ykkönen.

And here is our living room with an old Artek sofa and two Aalvar Aalto 406 armchairs.Last week I bought 2 yellow pillows from Ikea to give to the living room a touch of summer =)
